Pakistan on Tuesday submitted its reply in the ongoing Kulbhushan Jadhav case before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), DawnNewsTV quoted diplomatic sources as saying.
Jadhav, an official of India's spy agency RAW, was arrested in Pakistan on March 3, 2016, during an operation in Balochistan's Mashkel area for his involvement in espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan. India, however, maintains that Jadhav is a retired naval officer.
According to sources at the Foreign Office, the 400-page-long reply was submitted to the ICJ by Dr Fareeha Baig.
The reply addresses all the questions posed by India in great detail, the source confirmed while adding that the previous reply submitted by Pakistan was submitted on December 13, 2017. This is the second reply Pakistan has submitted in the case.
The ICJ is currently hearing an Indian petition challenging Pakistan’s refusal to grant consular access to the spy.
A memorial (by India) and counter-memorial (by Pakistan) have been submitted in the case.
The oral arguments are yet to commence as the court had allowed further written pleadings in the case by India till April 17, 2018, while allowing Pakistan to submit it's rejoinder till July 17 (today).

The Islamabad High Court issued notices to NAB in the Sharif family’s appeal against the Avenfield verdict.
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, sought the anti-corruption watchdog’s reply on the transfer of the two remaining cases against the Sharif family as well as the record of the Avenfield case. The record should be at least 100 pages, said Justice Kayani.
Transfer of cases
The court asked the Sharifs’ lawyer, Khawaja Haris, to point out the grounds on which they want the Al-Azizia and Flasghip cases to be transferred to another court.
Judge Muhammad Bashir cannot hear the other two cases as the defence arguments of the accused are the same in all three references, said Haris. According to him, judge Bashir cannot hear the other two cases after convicting the accused in the Avenfield reference.
“The accusations in the cases are that Nawaz Sharif owns the business,” said Haris. “The accused have presented a money trail in response. This judge has decided a case that included this money trail.”
Justice Kayani asked Haris if the judge was biased. To this, Haris replied: “Our case is not that the judge holds something against us.”
The court issued notices to NAB to submit its reply by July 30. It adjourned the hearing until then.
Besides the lawyer and PML-N leaders Pervaiz Rashid, Raja Zafarul Haq and Barrister Zafarullah Khan, a large number of people attended the hearing. There were more than 100 people in the courtroom before the hearing began. The courtroom has the capacity to seat 30 people.
Imran stresses need for national unity to defeat terrorism
QUETTA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Sunday visited the family of slain Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Siraj Raisani to express condolences over his death in a suicide bomb attack in Mastung area.
He also paid a visit to the CMH Quetta where he inquired about the health of those injured in the blast.
Later, the PTI chief visited the BAP office where he condoled with the party leaders over the loss of its candidate and workers in this tragic incident.
Speaking to media on the occasion, he said the ongoing wave of terrorism is aimed at adversely impacting the election process. The July 25 elections are very important which is why this all is happening, he added.
Mr. Khan said terrorists will win if the polls are postponed. He emphasized the need for implementation of the National Acting Plan (NAP), saying its non-implementation was adding to problems faced by the country.
He opined that terrorist activities are aimed at creating fear among the people ahead of the polls but they won’t be scared.
The PTI chief said external and internal forces are behind this tragic incident which he said was the biggest and deadliest after the Peshawar Army Public School attack.
He, however, said terrorism has been eradicated to a large extent.
He categorically stated that there is no question of his party forming a government with the help of those who were involved in corrupt practices. He said corruption is a grave issue which has ruined institutions, pushed the country into debt and resulted in rupee devaluation.
